The body of a 31-year-old man, identified as Binlemba Chang from Konya village under Tuensang district, was recovered below the NLA Thizama road in Kohima on Thursday night .
According to police, the deceased was discovered between 7: 30 to 8 PM. The deceased, who was residing in Kohima, was working as a driver in the Fishery Department.
The body was kept at North Police Station (North PS) on Thursday night and later shifted to the morgue at Naga Hospital, Kohima, between 9:00 am and 10:00 am on Friday. A postmortem examination was also conducted.
Police have registered the case under an Unnatural Death (UD) case. As of the time of filing this report, no FIR has been lodged. The cause of death remains uncertain.
Following the postmortem, the body was taken to his native village, Konya, under Tuensang district for the last rites.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Kohima police stated that it had received information regarding an unresponsive individual along the Thizama Road on the evening of April 16 at around 8 p.m.
Upon receipt of the information, a police team from North PS was immediately dispatched to the location. Simultaneously, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also requisitioned to assist the examination of the scene.
Upon arrival of FSL team, the body of the deceased was recovered from the site. A detailed preliminary examination of the scene was conducted and all relevant observations were carefully recorded in accordance with established legal and procedural norms.
Based on the initial investigation and observations made at the site, no indication of foul play has been ascertained at this stage. An inquest was duly conducted in accordance with legal procedures.
Following, the completion of all necessary formalities, including documentation and required medico-legal protocols, the body was handed over to the family members for final rites and burial.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and Kohima Police assured that no stone would be left unturned to ascertain the full circumstances and facts surrounding the incident.
