MC Mary Kom, Indian Boxing great and ex-member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) has made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh to intervene in the civil unrest in Manipur.
Mary Kom took to twitter to make her appeal saying, “My state Manipur is burning, kindly help” and tagged Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh.
In addition, she also tagged major media houses Republic TV, NDTV and India Today in an apparent attempt to garner media coverage.

Mary Kom, who has 1.4 million followers on twitter, made the tweet today and the tweet has since been viewed 1.9 million times, retweeted more than 9500 times at the time of reporting.
Multiple issues have caused civil unrest in Manipur in the past few weeks.
Violence has been reported mainly in the valley leading to suspension of mobile internet in the state.
It also led to imposition of curfew in non-tribal dominated Imphal West, Kakching, Thoubal, Jiribam and Bishnupur districts and tribal-dominated Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal districts.
Mary Kom, the famed Indian Boxer and former Rajya Sabha MP, hails from Kagathei village, Moirang Lamkhai in the Churachandpur district of Manipur.
