MGM College celebrated its Freshers’ Day 2026 on August 20 with great enthusiasm, warmth and youthful energy, welcoming the new students into the college community under the inspiring theme “New Beginnings, Endless Possibilities.”
The programme began with an invocation by Temjenzungla Aier, Assistant Professor, Department of History, setting a reflective and meaningful tone for the celebration. The welcome address was delivered by Tokupu, Assistant General Secretary, Students’ Council, who warmly welcomed the freshers and encouraged them to embrace their new academic journey with confidence and commitment.
The gathering was also addressed by Fr Shaiju Philip, Administrator, MGM College, who shared words of encouragement and reminded the students of the importance of discipline, values, hard work and responsible participation in college life.
Inavitoli, Semester III presented a special number that was enthusiastically appreciated by the audience. Chief Guest, Rev Fr Sajan Joseph, Executive Director, DAN, delivered an inspiring address, motivating the freshers to dream boldly, develop their talents and make meaningful contributions to society.
His message highlighted the importance of character, perseverance and purposeful education
in shaping a successful future.

One of the major highlights of the programme was the Introduction Round for Mr. and Miss Fresher, which provided the newcomers an opportunity to introduce themselves, showcase their confidence and interact with the college community.
Apili, Semester I, also shared a special message on behalf of the freshers. The formal programme was followed by an engaging informal session, creating an atmosphere of friendship, fellowship and joyful interaction among students.
Armen from the Department of History was declared Mr. Fresher, while Jimei from the Department of Sociology was crowned Miss Fresher.
Their selection marked a memorable beginning to their journey at MGM College. Vote of thanks was proposed by Nahong, President of the Students’ Council. The programme concluded with a closing prayer by Dr RK Behera, Principal, MGM College, who blessed the students and encouraged them to make the most of their college years through academic excellence, discipline, character and service.
