Advisor for Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan, on Saturday inaugurated the rostrum at the football ground in Okotso Village as part of his ongoing constituency tour.

Addressing the gathering, the Advisor stated that the rostrum was constructed under the Iconic Project LADP Fund 2025–2026. He expressed gratitude to the landowners for donating land for developmental activities and urged the villagers to make proper use of the facility while maintaining cleanliness and upkeep.

He remarked that the playground and rostrum at Okotso would serve as a dedicated space for the community to gather, play, learn and grow together. The dedication programme was led by Pastor AGCO, Rev Zuchamo Shitiri.

Later, the Advisor visited Sungro Government Higher Secondary School, where he interacted with teachers and students. Speaking at the programme, he said that schools should not only focus on imparting book knowledge but also equip students with employable skills and a sense of responsibility. He stressed the importance of developing practical skills alongside academic knowledge and encouraging creativity and interest among young minds.

He appreciated the school for its initiatives in promoting extracurricular activities and commended the efforts of the teachers, students and the community towards the growth of the institution. Acknowledging that certain gaps and infrastructural issues still needed attention, he assured that the concerns had been noted and would be taken up further.

During the visit, he also distributed gifts and encouraged the students to work hard and excel in life.

The Advisor further visited GPS Pangti, where he distributed gifts along with kitchen and gardening tools to the students and teachers.
