MMC’s Annual Dog Registration cum Vaccination Drive under Mokokchung Town on 27th and 28th Sep

Mokokchung: MMC urges citizens to comply with ‘Dog Registration and Proper Control of Dogs’ Rules & Regulation 2017’

The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) will be conducting the yearly Dog Registration cum Vaccination drive for the year 2024-25 under Mokokchung Town on 27th to 28th September 2024. The ADC & Chief Executive Officer, MMC, Chumlamo Humtsoe has informed that the vaccination drive will be carried out in collaboration with Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and all ward union Mokokchung (AWUM).

In this connection following guidelines are being issued for compliance:

– Timing of registration/renewal cum vaccination exercise will commence from 8:00 AM.

– All respective wards are requested to arrange necessary facilities.

– Each ward shall assign two persons to work with the team from AH & Veterinary department.

– Respective ward chairman will sign the registration card for the renewal, regarding the tags, as informed by the AH & Veterinary department.

The ADC & CEO, MMC also informed that new registration and lost card can be the office on or before 26th September 2024. New registration/renewal/vaccination fees and utilization charges shall be as usual.

Detail scheduled date are as follows:

27th September 2024 – Salangtem, Alempang, Alongmen, Sangtemla, Tongdentsuyong, Arkong, Penli, Dilong, Sungkomen ward.

28th September 2024 – Yimyu, Lijabalijen, Mongsenbai, Kumlong, Kichutip, Aongza, Marepkong, Majakong and Artang ward.

Further, the office of the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has informed to all concern dog owners within Mokokchung Municipal jurisdiction that for effective management of dog, they are directed to comply with the existing “Dog Registration and Proper Control of dogs’ rules & Regulation 2017”

The office has also issued the following advisory to be followed by the pet owners;

– Pet owners are advised to ensure that their pets are not a source of nuisance to others and also advised to make every effort to keep their dogs quite particularly during night hours

– Pet owners are further advised to ensure that their pets are healthy, and clean

– Adequate health care and regular vaccinations need to be ensured

– They are advised to leash their pets in public places, advised to ‘scoop the poop’ of their pets in public spaces, to remember that, laws already provide penalties for negligent of pet owners, which the aggrieved parties can avail of

– to show compassion to all living creatures is a fundamental duty cast by Article 51 A (g) of the constitution upon all the citizens of this country; the law of the land protects the rights of non-humans and it is a cognizable offence under Section 428 and Section 429 of the IPC if a person kills another person’s dog or any other pet deliberately.
