Moatsü Mung Concert (3rd Edition) to be held on May 1

As part of the Chuchuyimlang Moatsü Festival organised by the Chuchuyimlang Village Council in collaboration with the Tourism Committee, the ASHIPO Society of Chuchuyimlang would host the 3rd edition of the Moatsü Mung Concert on May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Anü Mai Amphitheatre, Chuchuyimlang The concert is being organized with the objective of promoting Ao Naga culture and engaging the community through the Moatsü Festival.

Addressing a press conference held at the conference hall of Hotel Magnus, Mokokchung, ASHIPO Society president Imlinok, general secretary Kaba Jamir, and members Merentoshi and Temsutemjen shared details of the event. It was informed that Zasivikho Zakiesato, President of the Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation (DUCCF), will attend the concert as the Special Guest. Guest artistes Keneisenuo Sorhie and Aseno Metha will perform during the programme. The organisers stated that entry to the concert will be open to the public free of cost.

Imlinok informed that in connection with the concert, the society has organised an online solo contest on Ao folk song or folk fusion. He stated that registration for the contest has already begun and the last date for submission is April 29. The results would be declared on April 30 through the ASHIPO Society’s Instagram page. He added that there is no age limit for participation and registration is free.

“All details with regard to the contest have been updated on the page,” he said, adding that around ten entries have been received so far and inviting interested individuals to participate.

The members stated that the concert, now in its third edition, aims to provide a platform for young local artistes. They noted that the presence of established Naga artistes would also serve to encourage upcoming performers to showcase their talents. It was informed that the winner of the online contest will be awarded a cash prize of ₹10,000 and would also be given an opportunity to perform during the concert.

The organisers stated that the initiative seeks to “uplift the younger generation of their talent” while promoting grassroots-level creativity. They emphasized that the concert is intended to promote culture and tradition through music and song. The members further stated that the society has been involved in various community-oriented activities, including music, sports, entrepreneurship initiatives, and the education sector, with financial support coming from well-wishers, elders, and sponsors.

In this regard, the organizers also shared that the Department of Art and Culture will be extending financial support for this year’s concert.

They expressed hope that such initiatives would encourage wider participation, including individuals residing outside the village, to reconnect with their roots through cultural observances.

The ASHIPO Society, formed in 2011 and active since 2024, comprises seven core members along with advisors and supporters. The members appealed to institutions such as the Tourism Department, Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), and the Department of Art and Culture for recognition of the society’s role in promoting folk song and folk-fusion concerts. They expressed commitment to organising such events sincerely across different fields.

The members further stated that the society does not limit its activities to music alone but remains prepared to extend support in areas such as education and sports or any other whenever required. They also welcomed individuals and organisations willing to support the society in its efforts toward community upliftment.

The ASHIPO Society extended an invitation to all, irrespective of village or community, to attend the Moatsü Mung Concert.
