Mokokchung: Traffic Advisories issued due to use of explosives for road cutting

Mokokchung: Mokokchung to Chare via Dikhu river closed for vehicles from 12 Jan till completion of road

Two Traffic Advisories have been issued in Mokokchung district in view of the use of explosives to cut earth on ongoing road construction projects in the district.

In the first order, the Deputy commissioner (DC) Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, NCS, has informed that JKM Infra Works Guwahati Assam has been permitted to carry out blasting of stone at the constitution site of the two-lane between DEF Church to Yisemyong on NH -61 Angetyongpang Tzu River area.

The blasting will take place on 11th January 2024 between 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the following terms and conditions that the contractor will ensure safety and security of life and property of public using the road. DC Mokokchung has further directed the contractors to follow the relevant Act/Rule, 2008. He also stated that JKM Infra Works would be responsible for any damages of life and property. This permit would remain valid for January 11th 2024.

The second advisory was issued by Shelly Katiry, NCS, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Mokokchung, regarding the widening of the lane road from Mokokchung to Chare via Dikhu river.

The order stated that UNC Construction Co. Pvt. Ltd will shortly start earth cutting work on high rise/steep terrains by deploying machineries and also using explosives and therefore, to ensure smooth progress of the work without endangering the safety of the travellers, movement of vehicles along the stated route remain restricted with effect from 12th January 2024 until completion/further notice with the undermentioned conditions/relaxations:

1. To facilitate movement of farmers and MMC sanitation trucks engaged in garbage dumping duty, there will be a window period for vehicular movement between 11:00 am-12:30 am and 3:00 am-4:30 pm from Monday to Saturday.

2. The Company shall ensure the safety of the travellers/public using the road by properly managing traffic flow along the route.

3. The Company should follow all relevant rules of The Explosives Act/Rule, 2008.

4. The Company shall be solely held responsible for any damages to life and property caused during the course of execution of the work.

Further, travellers from/to Mokokchung-Tuensang are advised to take the following alternative routes:

1. Existing NH-02 (Mokokchung to Chare via Tsutsung-Moalenden-Meyilong)

2. Mokokchung-Chuchuyimpang-Longmisa-Alisopur-Trongar-NH02-Tuensang.
