NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah has expressed sadness by the demise of journalist and human rights activist Tapan K Bose, who he referred to as “a true friend of the Naga people”.

In a condolence message, Muivah described late Bose as “a man of integrity who felt the sentiments of the Naga people and fearlessly championed our cause despite immense challenges.” He also said that late Bose’s unwavering support and invaluable counsel helped shape the Naga National movement in meaningful ways.

The NSCN (IM) leader recalled that during his time in prison, late Bose had stood by him, offering assistance and playing a crucial role in securing his release. His influence extended beyond borders, fostering friendships and alliances that strengthened our movement on the international stage, Muivah added.

He stated that in the passing away of late Tapan Bose, Nagas have lost not just an ally, but a dear friend whose guidance will be deeply missed. His courage to stand for the oppressed, his principles, and his statesmanship will remain as a lasting monument. While, we may or may not find another friend like him, he is truly irreplaceable, Muivah also added.
