Naga Sepaktakraw medal winners felicitation programme held

A felicitation programme, organized by the Youth Resource & Sports Department, to honor the Naga Sepaktakraw medalists who recently represented India at the 35th Kings World Sepaktakraw championship in Bangkok was held at the Conference Hall, Directorate of YRS on 4th August 2022.

Advisor Youth Resource Sports, Er. Zale Neikha congratulated the three medal winners Viseyie Koso- the captain of India’s men’s team which won the Gold medal while Akumtila and Sezovelu Dozo who represented the women’s team won Bronze medal. He said it was a proud moment to stand before the champions for bringing Laurels to the State and country. Advisor mentioned that, Sepaktakraw being one of the youngest disciplines of sports in Nagaland, has many records of participation at national and international levels and has brought many outstanding contributions to the country. He urged players from other disciplines to derive motivation and pursue their goals and he also expressed his appreciation to the State Academy for preparing and nurturing the young players with discipline and zeal for higher determination.

Er. Zale said the Lack of a Sepaktakraw Indoor Stadium will be taken up immediately with the higher authority.

The Advisor informed that the Department of YRS has recommended the promotion of Havildar Visweyie to the authority for consideration who is an employee of Nagaland police. He assured that the State Government will give their best facilities and added “let this achievement be a taste of your milestone and request all the sports person to give more dedication and hardworking in the sports you love and bring better reward, not for the State alone but the country in future events.”

Short speeches were shared by medal winners Viseyie Koso and Sezovelu Dozo about their experiences in the recently concluded championship. The chairperson of the program was Director YRS, Akumla Chuba.
