Nagaland Athletics Association conducts ‘Asmita Women’s League’ Road Race events

Dimapur: Supu S comes first in U-16 Girls 3km category, Tsuchoi T wins Women’s 5km category

The Nagaland Athletics Association on Monday conducted the U-16 and Women’s Road Race events under the ‘Asmita Women’s League’ (Khelo India Women’s League) at Half Nagarjan, Dimapur. The event was held under the directives from the Athletics Federation of India which is organising the women’s league in 25 cities across the country from 17th to 21st September 2023.

The Nagaland Athletics Association informed in a post on X that a total of 118 participants from 21 schools, one academy, and one college took part in the races and “displayed unwavering determination and sportsmanship”.

The winners in the U-16 Girls 3km category are: 1st Place- Supu S; 2nd Place- Kevilenuo K; 3rd Place- Mehrim B; 4th Place- Nebhe M; 5th Place- Lipiui A

In the Women’s 5km category, the winners were: 1st Place- Tsuchoi T; 2nd Place: Songmo P; 3rd Place: Peiheiteilie; 4th Place: Nainsai T; 5th Place: Jemie Y.

“These remarkable athletes have not only excelled but also become symbols of inspiration for all, the Nagaland Athletics Association stated on X. It also praised ‘Asmita Women’s League’ (Khelo India Women’s League) for providing a platform to empower and motivate women in sports.

The culmination cum prize distribution took place in Government Higher Secondary School Ground, Dimapur where cash awards and certificates were presented to the winners. Certificates were also given to all participants of the significant event.
