On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) which is on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, 31 October 2023, “Run for Unity” was organised in all districts of Nagaland to spread the message of unity throughout the country, DIPR informed.
In Capital Kohima, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports conducted the event at the Indira Gandhi Stadium where some 200 men and women from all sections of society participated in the “Run for Unity”, demonstrating their commitment to the cause of national unity. The Run was flagged off by SDO(C) Kohima, Nokpai Konyak and chaired by Zhopovi Zecho, District Sports Officer Kohima.
DIPR said that in Kohima all participants took the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” pledge, emphasizing their dedication to the principles of unity and integration, before the run.
In Dimapur, celebrating Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the District Administration in collaboration with the District Sports Officer, organized a spirited “Run for Unity” at the Government Higher Secondary School, Nagarjan, Dimapur. DIPR stated that participants from various walks of life gathered to mark this occasion and pay homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a key figure in India’s history.
In Tuensang District the event brought together participants from various segments of the community, including the District Administration, DEF Tuensang, and students from Government Thangjam Higher Secondary School, Tuensang at the iconic Tuensang Clock Tower.
According to DIPR, the event served as a powerful tribute to the ideals of unity and diversity that Rashtriya Ekta Diwas embodies, highlighting the nation’s strength in coming together as one. It was a symbol of solidarity and harmony that resonated with the spirit of the occasion.
In Longleng, the District Administration of Longleng organized a Unity Run on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at the District Headquarters. The event was inaugurated by SP Longleng, Yanger Jamir, who administered the unity pledge and flagged off the run. The “Run for Unity” commenced from Hukphang Junction and concluded at Lempong Junction, symbolizing the spirit of togetherness and unity.
Dr Samuel Akho Konyak, NCS, EAC Longleng, representing the District Administration of Longleng, extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the Heads of Departments (HoDs), staff, police personnel, students, and participants who contributed to the success of the program, DIPR informed.
In Mokokchung, a total of 60 NCC cadets from various schools and colleges, all affiliated with the 25 Naga Bn NCC, Mokokchung, participated in the run organised by the district administration. The event also placed a strong focus on the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” initiative, a motto emphasized by the Prime Minister of India.
The Unity Pledge was administered by Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Mokokchung, who also flagged off the event from Police Point in Mokokchung.
The NCC cadets displayed great enthusiasm and energy as they completed the run, culminating at the Public Ground in Mokokchung. Here, they further contributed to the community by participating in the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” initiative, engaging in the cleaning of the Public Ground.
The coordination of this event was led by First Officer Temjen and Subedar Ajay Singh of the 25 Naga Bn NCC.
The Noklak District Administration hosted a “Run for Unity” event in Noklak town on Tuesday in commemoration of National Unity Day at Noklak Town.
According to DIPR, Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, Arikumba, underscored the significance of October 31 as National Unity Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He then led the administration of the National Unity pledge, emphasizing the principles of unity and integration. Following the pledge, he flagged off the ‘Run for Unity,’ symbolizing the spirit of togetherness and harmony.
Participants from various walks of life in Noklak gathered at the Public Ground to take part in the event. The run, which commenced from the Public Ground, concluded at the Police Point, serving as a testament to the collective resolve of Noklak’s citizens to promote unity and cohesion.
