Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S Supongmeren Jamir has written to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, seeking immediate intervention and emergency relief for Nagaland in the wake of the devastating monsoon disaster affecting the state.

In his letter, Jamir highlighted the extensive destruction caused by incessant rains, landslides, and floods across Nagaland, particularly in Mon and Mokokchung districts, where lives have been lost, homes destroyed, and domestic animals washed away. He also pointed out that roads and bridges in several districts have suffered severe damage, cutting off communication and disrupting the supply of essential commodities.

The MP expressed deep concern over the hardships faced by people living in remote rural and interior areas, especially students who have been left stranded due to damaged roads and disrupted communication networks. He acknowledged the Army’s helicopter services for providing much-needed assistance in inaccessible areas.

Considering the gravity of the situation, Jamir appealed to the Prime Minister to treat the crisis with utmost urgency and declare emergency relief measures for Nagaland. He urged the Government of India to extend immediate assistance for rescue, rehabilitation, restoration of connectivity, and relief to the affected families.

Jamir stated that the people of Nagaland require timely support from the Central Government to overcome this humanitarian crisis and rebuild their lives.
