The Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, has directed all schools across the state to organize the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp (BBSC) 2026, a seven-day initiative scheduled to run from August 10 to August 18, 2026.

In a communication issued to District Education Officers and Sub-Divisional Education Officers of all districts, the Directorate stated that the camp is being conducted in line with a directive from the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, dated April 27, 2026.

The BBSC initiative aims to introduce young students to India’s diverse languages through fun, interactive methods. Activities planned under the camp include basic greetings and expressions in various Indian languages, self-introduction exercises, question-asking practice and vocabulary-building sessions.

A key addition this year is the inclusion of Indian Sign Language (ISL) as part of the curriculum, a move officials said is intended to promote inclusive education. To support this component, five reference videos on ISL will be circulated to schools via email for use during activities. Schools have also been advised to draw on last year’s resource publication, “A Language Learning Resource Book for Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps,” as supplementary material.

The Directorate has instructed all participating schools to document camp activities through photographs and videos, which are to be submitted to nagalandbbsc@gmail.com . District and sub-divisional officers have been asked to ensure the notification reaches all school heads and to secure their participation, with activity reports due by August 21.
