In a significant move to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, on December 17, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HLL Lifecare Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, to establish AMRIT (Affordable Medicine and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacies in the State.
AMRIT Pharmacy is a novel initiative launched by HLL Lifecare Ltd, aimed at to providing affordable medical items (medicines of all types and categories, surgical items, consumables and implants) for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular and all other diseases with the strong commitment to reduce the treatment cost of all types of diseases and bringing about a change with treatment being affordable to every Indian.

HLL Lifecare Ltd will start by setting up a warehouse at the State Family Welfare Training Institute in Chumoukedima, from where Citizen Welfare Pharmacy of various public hospitals will procure their requirements. Further, HLL Lifecare Ltd will also open “Amrit Pharmacy” outlets in public hospitals wherever required. Through this initiative, citizens of the State can access quality medical supplies at discounted price, which in turn will reduce the cost of treatment.
The MOU was signed by Dr Mereninla Senlem, Principal Director on behalf of the department and Dilip Kumar Mishra, Senior Manager (RBD-North East) on behalf of the HLL Lifecare Ltd.
