Pro Vice-Chancellor, SAS, Nagaland University, Prof Dipak Sinha was competitively selected for the 2025–26 Fulbright–Nehru International Education Administrators Award (FNIEA) and participated in the programme in the United States from April 11 to 25, 2026.
This fully funded fellowship, offered under the Indo–US Fulbright–Nehru initiative by the United States-India Educational Foundation, is designed for senior Education Administrators from India, including vice-chancellors, pro-vice chancellors, deans and academic leaders. The programme aims to strengthen leadership in higher education, promote international academic partnerships and support institutional development through direct exposure to global practices. It was specifically designed to expose participants to diverse university systems as well as key federal agencies shaping higher education and research.
The programme began at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, and provided a comprehensive understanding of the United States higher education system. It included visits, meetings and academic interactions with leading institutions across multiple cities: Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana), Temple University (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Drexel University (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), the University of Delaware (Newark, Delaware), Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland) and American University (Washington, D.C.). These engagements across geographically diverse academic centres highlighted the scale and diversity of the U.S. higher education landscape.

Participants engaged in discussions on key areas including internationalisation, research and innovation systems, digital and AI-enabled learning, community engagement and university–industry collaboration. A particularly significant component of the programme was the visit to the United States Department of Energy in Washington DC, where participants were introduced to the role of federal agencies in supporting research, innovation and academic partnerships. This engagement provided valuable insights into how national-level policy and funding frameworks contribute to the advancement of higher education and scientific research.
As part of the programme, each participating Education Administrator developed a capstone project aimed at strengthening their home institution. Prof Sinha’s project focused on enhancing international collaboration and advancing institutional development initiatives at Nagaland University.
The programme concluded with final presentations and an official engagement at the Embassy of India in Washington DC. Prof Sinha’s participation in this prestigious global fellowship is expected to contribute meaningfully to the academic growth, international engagement, and institutional strengthening of Nagaland University.
