Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) and the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) will be jointly conducting a two-day online training programme under the Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) for teachers on 25 and 26 August 2022 from 3 PM to 4:30 PM. In this regard, all the heads of Registered Institutions have been requested to select one teacher to attend the meeting positively.
The Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Department of School Education & Literacy, and National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Government of India, to equip every adolescent (child between 10-19 years) with scientific information, knowledge and life-skills to protect themselves from HIV infection and manage their concerns pertaining to reproductive and sexual health. AEP is an umbrella programme to cover all the secondary and higher secondary schools of the country.
The NSACS have been conducting training programmes for teachers under AEP in the State since 2010 with the objective to provide accurate age-appropriate life skills-based adolescence education in a sustained manner in schools and provide structured education to enhance knowledge and skills of adolescents to deal with challenges of life.
Some of the areas to be discussed under this training are –
- Aims and objectives of AEP
- HIV/AIDS and STI
- Growing up and Adolescence Reproductive Sexual Health
- Mental Health and Substance Abuse
- Life Skills for HIV Prevention
All the Heads of Registered Institutions have been requested to take note of the importance of this training and make a concerted effort to educate the students. The registration link for the training programme will be shared later in the district WhatsApp groups and email ID of the schools. E-Certificates will be issued to the participants. The attendance of teachers from all the registered schools is compulsory and will be monitored.
