The Tapi unit of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party has resolved to support Wangpang Konyak as its candidate for the upcoming Bye-election for 43 A/C Tapi, Mon district. In an official announcement, the unit declared that the decision was unanimously taken by the NDPP presidents of fifteen villages falling under Tapi constituency namely Tuimei, Tammong, Longphaoh, Lampong, Hongphoi, Tekuk, Shangnyu, Shangnyu Town, Tangnyu, Nyasa, Leangnyu, Pongkong, Mon, Phoktong and Longkai.
The Election Commission of India had on 9th October 2023 announced that the Bye-election in 43-Tapi (ST) Assembly Constituency of Nagaland would be conducted on 7th November 2023 and the counting on 5th December

The Bye-election has been necessitated by the passing of late Noke Wangnao on 28th August 2023 who was elected from the 43 A/C Tapi. Late Wangnao had won the seat for the tenth time earlier this year on NDPP ticket and was the Advisor for Social Welfare Department, Government of Nagaland at the time of his demise.
