The accused female guardian of a nine years old girl child in Wokha has been taken into Police custody following alleged severe physical abuse on the child.
Images displayed severe traumatizing wounds and cuts on the entire body of the girl child inflicted by her guardian.
Soriso K Quinker, Additional S.P. Wokha, informed that an FIR was filed on March 20 by the victim’s father reporting the severe physical abuse subjected upon his daughter by her guardian on Sunday night.
According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s father, the family had entered into a mutual agreement with the accused family in 2021 where they had assured to bear the cost of the victim’s education and treat her like their own daughter. The father is said to have received a call from her daughter through a neighbor’s phone on March 19 informing him about the physical assault and torture. The victim is said to have rescued from the accused house by her elder brother.

Following the filing of the FIR, the Police Department and the Women Police Cell, Wokha, swiftly dispatched security personnel to the site to address the situation. The accused has been apprehended and taken to the police station for further interrogation, informed Quinker.
Mhonchumi Humtsoe, Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee, informed that on receiving information at 2:30 PM yesterday from concerned citizens in Wokha, efforts to locate the child was initiated. Upon learning that the child had already been rescued by her family, the committee took her at Civil Hospital, Wokha for medical examination.
Following a thorough examination, it was discovered that the child had sustained severe injuries, including deep cuts. Though the committee attempt to gather more information from the victim, Humtsoe informed that the child divulged little due to mental trauma.
