The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed serious concern over the recent notifications issued by the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms (Personnel ‘A’ Branch), Government of Nagaland, on Sunday, April 13, which coincided with Palm Sunday, a sacred day for Christians.
“The two notifications issued — Notification No. PAR-4/6/2020/B and Notification No. PAR-4/6/2020/A — sets a worrying precedent as this is the first time transfer orders have been issued on a Sunday in our state since it attained statehood in 1963. The fact that the day also happened to be Palm Sunday, a day that holds huge religious and cultural importance for Christians all over the world lends the government’s move all the more insensitive,” stated the NPCC in a press release issued through its Communications Department.

It urged the State Government to act with more empathy, and not allow the governance of Nagaland to be influenced by Hindutva ideology or the policies of the RSS, which are far removed from the beliefs and values of the Naga people.
“We call upon the government to withdraw or review the said notifications and ensure that such actions do not become a trend,” appealed the NPCC.
