(This is a press release issued by S. Supongmeren Jamir, President, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee)
The NPCC thank our almighty God for another year gone by. It has been a tumultuous year with the State Elections and neighboring ethnic violence, beside many other positive outcomes for the State. The range of developments in this year across all fronts has led to a fond remembrance of our forefather’s time, where despite the practice of headhunting, principles of Honesty, Integrity and Friendship were upheld in the community. To invoke the joy of the simpler times when such principles derived value-led choices, is not in any way a means to morally subjugate anyone in particular. Rather, would it not be wonderful to live our lives in such a time where doing “good” is not a privilege but an inherent value embedded in our Naga culture?
Our Naga culture of hospitality and kindness goes beyond borders and have found its narrative rightfully so. Who is a Naga? What does being a Naga mean? What is Naga culture? are all valid and important questions to be addressed. Today, this opportunity is taken to highlight that we are all humans first and foremost with an agency to make choices, especially when it comes to fostering Unity, Love and Respect for fellow humans.
May 2024 be a year of resolution.
May we invoke the past to fuse cherished values into the present.
May we have the grace to accept our shortcomings and work towards it fervently.
May we respect one another and lead our choices responsibly.
Governments may come and go, but the development of the community should never be compromised with. Our choices today will shape the generations to come. Let us pray for the wise leadership of the Law Makers and Enforcers, Administrators and the Naga National Workers.
The NPCC wishes the best for the New Year to be led with Love, Hope and Grace for all of us Nagas.
