NPF Chozuba A/C resolves to strengthen party, back Rio’s leadership

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency (AC) held a consultative meeting at Bamboo Hall, Kisama, on Saturday, where party leaders called for unity, organisational strengthening and collective efforts towards an early resolution of the Naga political issue.

According to an update,  Kudecho Khamo, Advisor for CAWD and MLA of 18th Chozuba AC, while addressing the gathering described the merger of the NDPP with the NPF as part of God’s divine plan and urged party workers to place the interests of the party above anything else.

Highlighting the legacy of former Chief Minister Vamuzo Phesao, Khamo said Chozuba AC has inherited a rich political tradition and urged party members to uphold that legacy by working for the welfare and development of the people.

He said the NPF remains the custodian of Naga political aspirations, culture, identity, traditions and faith, and called upon party workers to rededicate themselves to strengthening the party.

The Advisor also stressed the need to continue supporting and strengthening the leadership of Chief Minister and NPF President Dr. Neiphiu Rio for all round development.

Khamo also laid emphasis of “One Family, One Project”, “One Family, One Entrepreneur” and “One Family, One Prayer Time” which were launched last year to empower families and improve livelihoods.

Emphasising the family as the foundation of social transformation, he called for greater public participation in developmental efforts and urged citizens to actively cooperate in the upcoming Census 2027 exercise.

He further appealed for collective efforts in partnership with the government to ensure the overall development and upliftment of the constituency.

Former MLA and Chairman of the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Nuzota Swuro, described the NPF as a regional party that must be strengthened to withstand all political challenges.

He said the Nagas are passing through a crucial period and require strong leadership, expressing confidence in Dr. Rio’s ability to continue efforts towards an early resolution of the Naga political issue and the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) matter besides other pressing developmental needs.

NPF Central Women Wing president, Sano Vamuzo stressed the need for strategic planning and organisational strengthening. She urged party leaders and workers to remain accommodative and broad-minded while serving the people.

Working President of the Central Office Bearers (COB), Pusazo Luruo, said the merger of the NDPP with the NPF was undertaken in the larger interest of the Naga political issue. He highlighted the sacrifices made by the party since its inception and asserted that Dr. Rio remains sincerely committed to achieving an early political settlement.

Describing Chozuba AC as a constituency of regional significance, Luruo called for united efforts to strengthen the party without discrimination and urged people to focus on agriculture and allied sectors as a means of economic upliftment.

Speeches were also delivered by Dr. Povotso Lohe, convenor of the Central Legal Cell, Vezhosa Chuzho, working president of 18th Chozuba AC, and former candidate Veprasa Nyekha, all of whom emphasised the need to strengthen the party and support its leadership.

Earlier, the programme began with a welcome address by Vevohü Epao, president of 18th Chozuba AC. The session was chaired by General Secretary Thepukrayi Nienu, while the invocation prayer was offered by Resamu Rhakho, secretary of the Farmers’ Wing, Phek Division. The vote of thanks was delivered by Veyizo Kezo, secretary of Phek Division, and the programme concluded with a prayer by Khwüvolü Nienu, president of the Women Wing.

Meanwhile, the house unanimously adopted resolutions. Wherein the meeting acknowledged what it described as God’s divine intervention in the merger of the NDPP with the NPF and resolved to work collectively to strengthen the party while supporting an honourable, acceptable and inclusive settlement to the protracted Naga political issue.

The meeting also resolved to support and strengthen the leadership of Chief Minister and NPF President Dr Neiphiu Rio. It further expressed appreciation to Rio for appointing leaders from the constituency to key positions, including Nuzota Swuro as NBDA chairman and Senior Vice President of COB, Pusazo Luruo as Working President of COB, Sano Vamuzo as President of the Central Women Wing and Dr. Povotso Lohe as Convenor of the Central Legal Cell.

The house additionally appreciated Kudecho Khamo for his efforts in bringing developmental activities to the constituency and resolved to continue supporting his leadership.
