Virtually solidifying the Naga Peoples Front base at 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, the office bearers of the revamped NPF party units at Waromung village and Alongkima town were administered oath of allegiance while the NPF flags were also hoisted at the respective unit treasurer’s residence by the 29 Jangpetkong AC NPF President Aodangnok Ozukum in the presence of MLA & Advisor for Transport and Technical Education Temjenmenba on July 10.
The political rejig in the constituency has been necessitated after the merger of the erstwhile NDPP with the NPF in May this year.
The party office formation involved sacrifices and accommodations since both the NDPP and NPF had strong presence in the Constituency. And speakers at the oath taking programmes, greatly appreciated the party leaders at the units for political insight and vision further development of the Constituency under the leadership of MLA & Advisor Temjenmenba and the NPF Party leadership under Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.
The programme gains significance since Alongkima is the administrative head (EAC HQ) of Jangpekong range and Waromung is one of the biggest villages under the constituency with a significant vote bank. The flag hoisting and oath taking signifies, literally and virtually, the end of any political differences between the erstwhile NDPP and the NPF in the units and solidifies the base for the sitting MLA Temjenmenba.

Speaking at both the programmes at Waromung and Alongkima, the sitting MLA & Advisor Temjenmenba, dwelled the developmental aspect of the Constituency in the light of the 100th year anniversary of the Ao Students Conference to be held at Waromung village; the pitiable road condition, which he said that the Chief Minister had given priority and sanctioned funds for its construction.
On the political aspect, Temjenmenba said that the NDPP and NPF are regional parties, and it was felt that having two regional parties was not good for the Nagas. Therefore, for promoting and protecting the identity and interests of the Naga people, the two parties merged and became one regional party representing the Naga people to stand, fight and always endeavour for the interests of the Naga people.
He, therefore, urged the party workers, especially at the grassroot level to be politically active since the elected representative can be strong only if the electorates support the MLA and work together for the progress and development of the Constituency.
The President of 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, Aodangnok Ozukum, while administering the oath of allegiance, congratulated all the new inductees and said that the oth being taken was not a mere uttering of words but a sacred vow to adhere to party principles, work for party and people’s interests and to be loyal to the Party flag and high command.
