The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung group) has claimed responsibility for an armed attack on a post of the 21 Assam Rifles at Tikhak Taipi village near Longvi in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the group claimed that its Naga Army carried out the attack at around 3 a.m. and that an exchange of fire continued for approximately 45 minutes.

The outfit claimed that security forces subsequently imposed a lockdown in the area and brought in additional personnel and aerial surveillance. It further claimed that the exact number of casualties among the security forces could not be independently confirmed.

The NSCN/GPRN described the attack as a response to what it termed the continued “domination” of the Naga people and asserted that it would continue armed operations in pursuit of its political objectives.

The claims made in the statement, including those regarding casualties and the subsequent security response, could not be independently verified at the time of reporting.

The incident comes amid continuing security concerns in parts of the Northeast linked to armed groups and the longstanding Naga political issue.
