The United Sangtam Region of NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned the horrific and inhumane act of rape committed against an 82-year old women allegedly by one Heluikie Nsanglung aka Amos, an Armed Branch Constable of DEF Kiphire on June 17 and said such a heinous crime is a grave violation of human dignity and a betrayal of the trust placed in law enforcement agencies.
Stating that no individual, regardless of position or authority is above the law, Y Likhumse Mongzar, Central Administrative Officer, United Sangtam Region demanded a swift, impartial and transparent investigation, followed by the strictest legal action against the accused.

The NSCN (IM) said justice must be delivered without delay and every effort should be made to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of the victim and all the women in general.
Stressing that the tragic incident highlights the urgent need for accountability, stronger safeguards, and reforms to prevent such abuses of power, the Sangtam Region expressed solidarity with the victim and her family and called upon the authorities to ensure that justice prevails.
