The Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), under the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Government of Nagaland, conducted the third edition of its Enterprise Readiness Support Workshop (ERSW 3.0) on August 18 and 19 at E-Space, Duncan, Dimapur. The two-day workshop was organised as part of NSEDM’s continued post-training support to candidates, with the objective of facilitating pathways towards employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship.

The workshop concluded with words of encouragement from Meripeni Ngullie, Under Secretary & Project Lead, NSEDM, who encouraged the participants to put into practice the knowledge and learning gained during the workshop and to remain committed to developing their entrepreneurial pursuits

NSEDM has adopted an end-to-end approach to skill development, extending its engagement beyond training to include enterprise readiness, mentorship, credit linkages and other relevant support mechanisms. ERSW is one such initiative aimed at supporting NSEDM-trained candidates who are pursuing or aspiring to pursue entrepreneurship by strengthening their entrepreneurial capabilities and connecting them to avenues for continued support.

A total of 36 trained and aspiring entrepreneurs were certified upon completion of ERSW 3.0. The participants were identified based on the findings of the Entrepreneurship Readiness Assessment Survey conducted during their skill training. The assessment enabled NSEDM to identify candidates with an interest and potential for entrepreneurship and provide them with targeted post-training support.

The workshop was anchored by Imtisunup Longchar, Entrepreneurship Development Counsellor, NSEDM, and brought together practitioners and domain experts as Resource Persons. Day one featured sessions facilitated by Lezo Putsure, CEO, EduCentre School of Business; Nengneithem Hengna, Director, Runway Nagaland; Kewengule Therie, Founder, Ake Living; Alemjungla Jamir, Founder, Naga Bowl Express; and Nzanrhoni Humtsoe, Creative Director & Co-Founder, Brief & Co. Marketing Agency. Day Two featured sessions facilitated by N. Robert Tungoe, Manager, SBI Dimapur; and Lipokjungla Ozukum, Director, Ilandlo Services Pvt. Ltd.

The workshop covered key areas relating to entrepreneurship mindset and readiness, business growth and strategy, business operations, financial literacy, digital skills, credit access, legal and regulatory awareness, cost analysis, and business planning and pitching. The sessions were designed to provide participants with practical understanding of the various aspects involved in starting, managing and strengthening an enterprise.

Particular emphasis was placed on translating skills and entrepreneurial ideas into actionable business plans. Participants were guided in developing their business plans and pitch decks, following which they presented their proposed business ideas and ventures. The exercise provided an opportunity for participants to articulate their business propositions, target markets, operational requirements, growth plans and funding needs.

The workshop also introduced participants to the next stage of NSEDM’s Intensive Mentorship Programme (IMP), which is intended to provide continued guidance and handholding as participants work towards implementing and strengthening their enterprises. Through this approach, NSEDM seeks to ensure that support to trained candidates extends beyond completion of skill training and continues through the stages of enterprise development and livelihood creation.

Credit facilitation formed another important component of ERSW 3.0. Participants were sensitised on credit and borrowing, enterprise financing through banks, credit readiness, eligibility, repayment considerations and government-supported schemes and institutional support. The sessions also emphasised responsible borrowing and informed financial decision-making.

ERSW 3.0 reflects NSEDM’s continued commitment to strengthening post-training engagement and enterprise development support for its candidates. Through initiatives such as enterprise readiness training, mentorship, credit facilitation and continued handholding, NSEDM seeks to strengthen an enabling ecosystem where skills can translate into sustainable employment, enterprise creation and livelihood opportunities across Nagaland.
