NSLSA organizes legal awareness at District Jail Peren

The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Peren District Legal Services Authority organised a legal awareness at District Jail, Peren. The programme was chaired by Advocate Indeu Hiekha, Penal lawyer PDLSA.

Imlinungba Longkumer, Deputy Superintendent of Jail, Peren pronounced the opening remarks. Neiko Akami, NJS Member Secretary enlightened the inmates rights and duties when and how to avail and engaged legal aid counsel who couldn’t able to engage private lawyer.

Advocate Kidungyi Putlang Penal lawyer PDLSA highlighted the prisoners’ rights provided and guaranteed under the constitutional provisions of India.

Conclusion remarks were given by Senior Superintendent of Central Jail Dimapur. A total of 14 male inmates and 1 female inmates attended the programme where 6 of the inmates were represented by Legal Aid counsel.

A thorough discussion was held where Khrievonuo Seletsü, NJS Chief Judicial Magistrate Cum Secretary PDLSA have confirmed the 3 UTPS’s not being represented and forwarded to LADC for necessary step to be taken up.
