The Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA), in collaboration with the Nagaland Association of Tour Operators (NATO), celebrated World Tourism Day 2026 with a trek from Peak of Hope in Pfutsero to Kapamodzü. Around 50 members of the tourism fraternity took part in the event, sharing a day of walking, fellowship and appreciation for Nagaland’s natural landscapes.

The celebration began with a short devotional service at Peak of Hope Chapel. Participants then climbed the 504 steps to Peak of Hope before setting out on the approximately 3.7-kilometre trail to Kapamodzü.

The route brought together two destinations that visitors can enjoy in their own right. Peak of Hope provided a scenic starting point and an invigorating climb, while Kapamodzü offered a rewarding end to the walk. Between them, the trail gave participants time to experience the landscape at a slower pace, with forested stretches, fresh mountain air and views along the way.

For NTA and NATO, the World Tourism Day event was an opportunity to experience the route together and draw attention to its tourism potential. The participation of around 50 people from the industry reflected a shared interest in developing experiences that encourage travellers to explore beyond Nagaland’s established tourist circuits.

As Nagaland expands its nature and adventure tourism offerings, walking trails such as the Peak of Hope–Kapamodzü route can give visitors a closer connection to the places they visit. Promoting such experiences responsibly, with local communities at their centre, can also help bring attention to destinations around Pfutsero.
