In his presentation, Dr Banerjee explored “the ecological turn of human subjectivity” in the poetry of Jibanananda Das. He examined how the poet’s engagement with plants, landscapes and other forms of nonhuman life challenges conventional understandings of human identity and foregrounds the interconnectedness of human existence and the natural world.
The invited talk reflects Nagaland University’s continued engagement with international academic discourse and highlights the contribution of its Department of English to the evolving fields of Environmental Humanities and ecocritical literary studies.
