Jalukie Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (N) conducted an awareness lecture on Importance of Nutrition and Health for women society members of Athibung of Peren District, Nagaland on Tuesday.

The programme was organised in consonance with Mission Poshan 2.0 being undertaken by the Government of India.

The lecture cum interaction programme highlighted on balanced nutrition and a healthy diet to support and fuel their day-to-day activities and fulfil various deficiencies during pregnancy. The women were also briefed on ways to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers and carry out food fortification.

Various government sponsored schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Balika Samriddha Yojana and National Schemes of incentives to girls for secondary education were covered briefly.

The women expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for the efforts in imparting the knowledge and talking about many prevalent yet unseen issues and for promoting awareness on violence against women and opportunities ahead.
