The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Peren held its monthly meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall, Peren on 6th October 2026, under the chairmanship of DC & Vice-Chairman, DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
The Board reviewed the proceedings of the previous DPDB meeting and deliberated on the status of the NAAC accreditation process of Peren Government College, Green Peren initiatives and the Green Peren Outlet at Jalukie, an initiative of DPDB Peren, the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, the Inter-Departmental Tournament, and the Barak River Catchment Area Project.

The Board discussed the request of the Peren Town Youth Organization for financial assistance from all departments under Peren district towards organizing the 18th Edition Inter-Ward Tournament of Peren Town, scheduled to be held in November 2026. After deliberation, the house decided to leave the matter to the respective departments to decide as deemed appropriate.
On the proposal for creation of a Sub-Centre at Mhaikam Village, the house approved the creation of the Sub-Centre.
The meeting also reviewed the measles outbreak in Peren district. Medical Superintendent, Dr. Antoly Suu, informed the house that a few confirmed cases had been reported from Veterinary Colony and Jalukie B, while the Health Department was closely monitoring the situation. It was informed that the number of cases was declining and that the situation was contained.
Participating in the discussion, the DC stressed the importance of conducting awareness programmes among the public. He further informed that necessary advisories would be circulated to create awareness and ensure preventive measures.
On Reform Utsav, the DC informed that the programme is a Government of India initiative to be undertaken over a period of three months-October, November and December. In Peren district, the programme was formally launched at New Peren Village on 2nd October 2026.
He briefed the house on the concept and objectives of the Reform Utsav exercise and emphasised that an important aspect of the programme is to obtain suggestions and feedback from citizens to identify areas requiring improvement and bring about meaningful change.
The meeting also discussed the Village Development Plan at New Peren Village. The DC informed that during his recent visit to New Peren Village for the launch of the Reform Utsav programme and subsequent interaction with villagers, it was observed that there was limited awareness among the villagers regarding their rights and a significant communication gap at the village level.
He stressed that creating awareness among the villagers is essential for effective grassroots governance and development. In this regard, the House constituted a committee with EAC, Peren HQ as Convenor and BDO, Peren as Member Secretary.
The meeting also included PowerPoint presentations by the Youth Resources & Sports Department and Forest Department on their respective programmes and activities.
