To commemorate the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2023 campaign, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department’s Mokokchung Division took the lead by organizing a two-day Cleanliness Drive on 25th and 26th September 2023. The initiative, led by the District Coordinator and District Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Consultant, in collaboration with Jal Shakti Fellows (JSFs) and dedicated interns from the Mokokchung Division.

The focus of this community-driven initiative was to enhance the cleanliness and hygiene standards in the region. The dedicated team of volunteers took to the task of cleaning the Public Ground and the Inter-State Bus Terminal in Khensa.

One of the key aspects of this Cleanliness Drive was the meticulous segregation of waste. The team ensured that recyclables, organic waste, and plastics were separated responsibly. The plastic waste collected during the drive was then appropriately deposited at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the Mokokchung Municipal Council.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Coordinator stated, “Our aim was not just to clean the surroundings but to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness among the community. It is heartening to see the enthusiasm with which everyone came forward to make this drive a success.”
