PM Modi leaves for Brunei Darussalam and Singapore

New Delhi: Confident that visits will strengthen partnership with Brunei, Singapore and larger ASEAN region: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken off on Air India One to Brunei Darussalam and Singapore where he will meet with the heads of the countries to strengthen cooperation bilaterally and within the regional and multilateral frameworks.

Before leaving for his three-day visit, PM Modi said that he is looking forward to his meetings with Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei, and other members of the Royal family on the occasion of 40 years of diplomatic relations “to advance our historical relationship to new heights.”

PM Modi also said in his statement that he will travel to Singapore on 4 September where he looks forward to meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. I will also meet with leaders of the Singapore’s vibrant business community, he informed.

Further, the Prime Minister stated that he anticipates the discussions to deepen Strategic Partnership with Singapore, particularly in new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development.

​Both countries are important partners in our Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision. I am confident that my visits would further strengthen our partnership with Brunei, Singapore and the larger ASEAN region, PM Modi stated.
