The District Administration, in collaboration with Chiephobozou Town Council, organised a nationwide special campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme at the Town Council Hall, Chiephobozou, on September 23.

Delivering the keynote address, Vekusheyi Rhakho, ADC and EO, Chiephobozou, said the PM SVANidhi scheme, launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, on June 1, 2020, was aimed at supporting street vendors who face difficulties in accessing formal credit, expanding their businesses, adopting digital payments and connecting with various welfare schemes.

He said the Lok Kalyan Mela was organised to bring government closer to the people and ensure that eligible citizens could access schemes and services meant for them.

Rhakho said the special campaign brought the District Administration, Urban Local Body, banks, government departments and beneficiaries onto a common platform, enabling citizens to understand the scheme, submit applications, resolve pending issues and receive guidance without having to visit multiple offices.

He urged eligible street vendors to make full use of the opportunity and approach officials without hesitation. He also stressed the importance of timely repayment and responsible use of government assistance, assuring that the Administration, Town Council, financial institutions and line departments were committed to ensuring that no eligible beneficiary was left out.

Resource persons Thejasenuo Agnes from the Department of Urban Development Agency, Sentibenla, Branch Manager, Chiephobozou Rural Bank, and Janet Thaprü, Functional Manager, SDIC, Chiephobozou, highlighted the importance of the campaign, Lok Kalyan Mela and other welfare schemes.

The programme was chaired by Viketoulie Metha, EAC, Chiephobozou, while CTC Chairperson Khrielelie Kerhuo delivered the vote of thanks. Street vendors, business establishments, government officials, CTC members and bank representatives attended the programme.
