President Droupadi Murmu on 7th December 2023 directed the assignment of additional portfolios to four Union Ministers after she accepted the resignations of three Cabinet Ministers belonging to BJP following their wins in the State Assembly elections.
Narendra Singh Tomar, who was the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, had resigned after winning the Dimani seat in Madhya Pradesh. Arjun Munda, the Union Minister of Tribal Affairs has been given the additional charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Minister of State for Food Processing and Jal Shakti, was elected to Madhya Pradesh Assembly. The President directed the role of MoS for Food Processing to be assigned to Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare while Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MoS for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & IT, will now add Jal Shakti to his portfolio.
Following the resignation of Renuka Singh Saruta, MoS for Tribal Affairs, who was elected to the Chhattisgarh State Assembly, Dr Bharti Pravin Pawar will now succeed her. Parwar is currently serving as the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.
12 BJP members of Parliament have resigned for the Parliament since winning in the State Assemblies in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
