Progress in State because of collaborative effort and unity of citizens: Neiphiu Rio

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today inaugurated the Sechüma Mechü Zie (Playground) at Sechü village. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of Mere-Sechü-Rau Seyie Complex site at Sechü (Zubza).

Speaking at the inauguration programme of the Sechüma Playground, Rio said, the progress in the state is not because of the government but because the public’s sense of responsibility, collective effort and unity.  He thanked the landowners for donating their best land for the betterment of the youth and public in general. “When the government undertake any projects, lack of unity among the village leaders hamper the development process,” highlighted the CM. To this, he appreciated the leaders and the people of Sechü village for displaying unity and selflessness and bringing development to the village. Likewise, every village either big or small village which honestly and dedicatedly uses money meant for development, Nagaland will progress much faster. With the facilities provided, Rio said, Youth will benefit greatly in terms of health and hone their talents to compete.

Stating that Youth are the future, Rio noted that attention has been given to youth empowerment by promoting sports, culture, traditional music, food and costumes of the Naga people. He also noted that Naga youth have immense potentials and talents but have fallen behind because of the unresolved Naga political issue.  Rio added that as the situation gets better the government has been developing sporting facilities at par with national and international standards. He noted that Kohima Local Ground with gallery and cover will be completed this year. Old secretariat area will transformed be shopping mall, hotel. The Chief Minister also disclosed that the cabinet plans to host National Games however expressed that the State’s own athletes needs to be well trained and groomed. On the Peducha – Sechu – Mezoma – Khonoma road of 25 kms under PMGSY (2023-24), Rio urged villagers to cooperate with contractors for betterment of all.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Playground Commemoration stone. On the sideline, Minister for Horticulture & Women Resource Development Salhoutuonuo Kruse inaugurated the Sechüma Village Approach road constructed under MGNREGA.
