Jalukie: Patton reminds students there is no short cut to success and no substitute to hard work

Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton said on Friday that St. Xavier College, Jalukie, Peren District securing ‘A’ Grade from NAAC is a moment of pride for Nagaland. A “Red Letter Day”, he stated.

St. Xavier College, Jalukie is the first college in the State to be awarded Grade-A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 3.12 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Deputy CM, addressing the NAAC Grade “A” and Academic Closing Day program here at the college auditorium in Jalukie, lauded the college for the milestone achievement in the field of academic excellence. He called upon the College administration of Nagaland to emulate the good gesture and efforts that St. Xavier College, Jalukie has exhibited and bring laurels to the State.

Patton also expressed his gratitude to the pioneers of the college for their visionary leadership and guidance that has made the college grow from scratch to this far, standing on top of the colleges in Nagaland as far as NAAC assessment is concerned.

Patton maintained that education does not confine to only bookish knowledge but concerns with all round development of the individuals, Patton said education has to do a lot with human resource and personality development.

In line with its motto “LEARN AND SERVE”, he said, it is felt that the St. Xavier College under the Catholic Diocese of Kohima, Nagaland is providing with the required quality education with optimum training and learning program.

Mentioning that with fast advancement of modern technology, the world has become a global village and there are already good and bad effects of these advancements, Patton urged upon the student community in particular to make right use of these modern technologies in a beneficial way rather than ruining their future career.

Congratulating Dr Fr. Francis Cheerangal, the Principal of the College for winning Governor’s Commendation Certificate on 26 January 2023, for outstanding services to the society, Patton attributed that under Dr Fr. Francis’ leadership and with the utmost co-operation from members and students, St. Xavier College has brought many accolades including winning of National NSS award from the President of India, National Youth Parliament and best North-East NCC Cadet, etc.

“All these achievements are possible only through dedication and devotion to the responsibilities and working in a cohesiveness environment,” said Patton and urged all the stakeholders and the faculty members to keep up the spirit for furtherance of the good mission.

He also reminded the students that there is no short cut to success and no substitute to hard work in the journey of academic excellence or for that matter in all the endeavours to attain a successful life. Therefore, build up a strong determination with a distinct aims and objectives to achieve in life so that you become an important asset for the society, added Patton.

Further, he called upon the people of Peren District and Jalukie in particular to extend their full co-operation towards the college and to all the staffs for its further growth and progress.

Major General Vikas Lakhera, Inspector General IGAR-North and Deputy Commissioner of Peren Vineet Kumar, IAS attended the program.
