The 6th semester students from the Department of Sociology, Sao Chang College Tuensang undertook a one day field study at Longra village and Longsing on March 22, 2025. A group of 34 students from the final year semester, accompanied by three faculty members, participated in the visit.
The students Interacted with the elders and the farmers as they shared knowledge and experiences on the shift from jhumming to terrace cultivation and the art of nurturing land and environment. The farmers also shared on its thriving fruits plantation such as orange and sugarcane, informed a press release by the college.

The jaggery products of the village is well sought after by the people of the district as well as by the neighbouring districts and has become a source of sustenance and income for the villagers. The field study aims to provide practical knowledge and enhance students’s understanding on the local lived culture of the village.
The department expressed appreciation to the college authority, District Agriculture Office for the support and assistance provided, and the 3rd NAP Police Battalion Saksi for providing the vehicle to make the field trip possible.
