Silver jubilee celebration of Old Medical Cricket Club held in Mangkolemba

The Old Medical Cricket Club (OMCC) celebrated its Silver Jubilee today at the Town Hall, Mangkolemba, in the presence of distinguished guests, club members, and cricket enthusiasts. The event was graced by Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Honorary Secretary of the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), who served as the Chief Guest for this momentous occasion, informed a press release by the NCA media.

The celebration commenced at 12 noon with a formal program that highlighted the remarkable journey and legacy of the Old Medical Cricket Club, established in 2000. Noksangnaro, Vice Principal of BHSS, compered the event, providing a brief history of the club and emphasizing its dedication to fostering cricket in the region.

The program included an invocation by Allemla Jamir, Associate Pastor of CEM, MTBA, and a warm welcome address delivered by Moaliba, President of OMCC. A special number performed by Temsunaro, Associate Pastor of Music, MTBA, added a melodic touch to the celebration. In his exhortation, T. Longri Longkumer, Advisor of OMCC, emphasized the importance of cricket as a unifying and inspiring force for the youth in the region.

Following this, Chief Guest Hyunilo Anilo Khing, released a commemorative memento and addressed the audience. In his speech, he acknowledged the transformative journey of Nagaland Cricket under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who led Nagaland to become a full member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2018. This milestone marked the beginning of professional cricket in Nagaland and created opportunities for local players to participate in prestigious BCCI tournaments. He commended OMCC for its unwavering commitment to cricket and its efforts in nurturing talent over the past 25 years.

A significant highlight of the day was the inauguration of the new Cricket Practice Pitch by Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Honorary Secretary of the Nagaland Cricket Association, in memory of the founding members of OMCC. This pitch, established under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association, represents a significant step forward in advancing cricket infrastructure in the region.

In his concluding remarks, Khing expressed gratitude to OMCC for their dedication and congratulated them on their Silver Jubilee milestone. He extended his best wishes for their future endeavors, encouraging them to continue their vital role in promoting cricket in Nagaland.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by L. Samuel, Deputy Commandant, CRPF, and a benediction by B. Yanger, from Nokyu Ward, Mangkolemba. This was followed by a jubilee feast and a photography session, fostering camaraderie among attendees.

The Silver Jubilee of OMCC stands as a testament to the club’s enduring legacy and its vision for a brighter future in cricket for Nagaland. The Nagaland Cricket Association lauded OMCC’s contributions and reaffirmed its support for the club’s initiatives, informed the press release.
