SIR progress reviewed in Chumoukedima

Secretary, Election Commission of India, Binod Kumar, reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 in Chumoukedima district at a review meeting held in the DC’s Conference Hall, Chumoukedima, on August 20.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Chumoukedima, Polan John, NCS, and attended by officials from the Chief Electoral Officer’s Office, EROs and AEROs of 4-Ghaspani-I and 5-Ghaspani-II Assembly Constituencies and other officials.

Binod Kumar urged the officials to adhere to the prescribed timeline and complete all SIR-related activities on time. He also called for solutions to the challenges faced by BLOs and stressed on the importance of ensuring that awareness and information reached citizens across the district.

He appreciated the work carried out by the BLOs and urged them to update their findings in the application within the stipulated time. He encouraged them to discharge their duties diligently and ensure that all eligible voters were represented while maintaining the integrity of the electoral roll.

He stated that the SIR exercise would have a generational impact and urged all concerned to put in greater effort, regularly review the situation and take timely steps to resolve issues and challenges.

DC, Chumoukedima, Polan John, NCS gave detailed presentation on the district profile, covering the total number of electors, polling stations, rationalisation of polling stations, and the training and awareness programmes conducted in connection with SIR 2026.

The meeting witnessed detailed discussions and deliberations on the progress of the revision process. The officers and BLOs apprised the Secretary about issues and challenges encountered during the field exercise, following which suggestions and possible measures were discussed to address the challenges and ensure smooth implementation of SIR.
