The 1985–1988 batch of the South India Biblical Seminary (SIBS), Bangarapet, gathered for a four-day alumni reunion from August 16 to 19, marking 38 years since their time at the seminary.

The reunion is being hosted by Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC), Kohima. A special welcome programme was held on August 18 at the Koinonia Prayer Centre, Tsiesema Basa, on the theme, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, based on Psalms 103:2, stated a press release.

Addressing the gathering, Rev Dr Zotuo Kiewhuo, Founder and Senior Pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church and Principal of Kohima Bible College, highlighted the transformative impact of the institution’s rigorous spiritual and academic discipline in shaping the lives of its graduates.

Reflecting on his days at SIBS, Rev. Kiewhuo recalled the foundational role the seminary played in moulding students into dedicated followers of Jesus Christ. He said that although the strict discipline of the institution posed challenges during their student days, it eventually became instrumental in their personal and spiritual growth.

He also paid tribute to former Principal Frankie E. Dewey for his dedicated mentorship and visionary leadership, crediting his guidance for the spiritual grounding and success of many alumni.

Reflecting on the journey of the batch, Rev Kiewhuo noted that students who had once faced various personal struggles during their academic years had gone on to become men and women of God, serving in diverse mission fields across India and other parts of the world.

He said that an alumni reunion was an occasion to remember and recount God’s faithfulness and blessings through the years. He called upon the alumni to renew their commitment to kingdom service and continue reaching people in India and across the world with renewed vigour, dedication and the message of Christ.

The welcome programme was chaired by Meyiengonu Üsou, Evangelist of Koinonia Baptist Church, while the welcome address was delivered by Medotseilieü Kiewhuo, Pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church.

A presentation and introduction were made by the Koinonia Baptist Church Women Department. Special music was presented by Kohima Bible College and the Deborah Group.

The four-day reunion brought together former classmates to reconnect, share testimonies and give thanks for nearly four decades of ministry and service.
