Swachh Bharat Diwas 2026 was observed at Hukphang village, Longleng on October 2 as part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign with the objective of reinforcing the importance of cleanliness, sanitation, responsible waste management, and community participation.
The programme was organized at Longleng Block, with active participation from the village community, local representatives, and departmental staff.
Er Sumo T, SDO, PHED Longleng, delivered an awareness session on the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026 and 4-way source segregation through a PowerPoint presentation.
Er L Baukham Phom, JE, PHED Longleng, highlighted the objectives and importance of Swachh Seva Aankalan (SSA).

A pledge led by Er Lipokmeren, JE, PHED Tamlu, was administered to the participants, reaffirming their commitment to cleanliness, sanitation, and responsible waste management.
The programme concluded with the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Plantation Initiative, encouraging participants to plant and nurture trees as a symbol of love and gratitude towards their mothers.
