Tamang invites people to visit Sikkim to experience mental peace, tranquil lifestyle, sense the different eco zonation

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang attended the “ONE EARTH ONE HEALTH” conclave at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today. The event, aligned to the theme of India’s G20 Presidency, had the presence of Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha, Minister Tourism and Civil Aviation B.S Panth and delegates from across the world.

Highlighting the healthcare status in Sikkim, CM Tamang, in his address, mentioned that all types of health facilities are available, including psychiatry, alternative medicine, and recovery care. He also informed about the existence of different spiritual heritage and added that meditation and healing methods like Sowa-Rigpa are practiced in abundance, including various Ayurvedic treatments.

Further, he stated that numerous spiritual organizations have rendered suitable health benefits through their meditation techniques and informed about the awards and accolades conferred to Sikkim. He welcomed people to visit Sikkim to experience mental peace, a tranquil lifestyle, and sense the different eco zonation.

CM Tamang mentioned that Sikkim is blessed with rich biodiversity, flora and fauna, pristine nature, prominent tourist places of interest, medicinal plants, herbs-hybrids, and a pleasant atmosphere. Home to glorious mountain peaks, hills and slopes, lakes, waterfalls, caves, moors, pastures, rivers and streams, and varieties of flowers like orchids, and green forests, he stated that the natural beauty has attracted tourists from far and wide.

Likewise, he also added that the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Sikkim has made significant progress in providing healthcare services to the people of the state and neighbouring areas with a vision to foster a healthy society through the provisioning of quality healthcare services for all to reach up to the remotest part of the state and added that the remarkable milestones achieved by the Government of Sikkim in the healthcare sector are reflected by radical changes in many Health Indicators which have made an impact on the health of the people of the state.

Additionally, he remarked that Sikkim has a very robust health infrastructure that is accessible with free treatment in all government hospitals, including Primary Health Centres, adding that tremendous progress has been made in the up-gradation of Promotive, Preventive, Curative, and rehabilitative care to the people of Sikkim with improvement in infrastructure, capacity building, manpower placement, and delivery of comprehensive services through Primary Health Sub-Centres, Primary Health Centres, Urban Primary Health Centres, Cluster Health Centres, District Hospitals including State Referral Hospital, and one Private Medical college in the state in Private Public Partnership.

Sikkim’s CM also informed about the initiation of teleconsultation services to connect the patients of remote areas to doctors in the city through the chain of health and wellness centres and PHCs to reduce out-of-pocket expenses. He also mentioned that under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the largest health insurance scheme in the world, numerous families have been issued golden/Ayushman cards in Sikkim.

On behalf of the people of Sikkim, Tamang thanked the central government for granting 50 MBBS free seats for underprivileged students in the state, expressing an immense debt of gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for rendering every support to the state.
