Teachers’ Day celebration 2022 held at Mon Town

Mon: During the program, four teachers were presented with the District Teachers Award 2022

The celebration for Teachers’ Day in Mon Town was held at Council Hall on 5 September under the theme, ‘Teachers: Leading in crisis, re-imaging the future’.

Deputy Commissioner Arjit Kumar, who was the Guest of Honour, said teachers are the backbone in building society. He advised the students to honour their teachers because they learn from them, and also encouraged the students to value time and to be decent, sincere and polite. He further appreciated all the teachers for their hard work and dedication.

Amon KR of Model School, Mon delivered a speech stating the significance of Teachers’ Day. He presented the life account of S Radhakrishnan and encouraged the students to honour teachers. He also appreciated the teachers for their sincere service bestowed towards the students.

During the program, four teachers were presented with the District Teachers Award 2022. Selected by the District Level Committee, the four teachers given the award were:

  • M Esther Moikap Konyak, P/T, GHSS
  • John Konyak, P/T, GMS Shangsa
  • Langphong Konyak, T/In-charge, GPS Mienchangle
  • Dziesebeiu Angela, Asst Teacher, Sacred Heart School, Mon

M Esther Moikap Konyak, speaking on behalf of the awardees, extended her gratitude towards the Education Department and the institution for the award.

Along with DC Mon and officials from the Education Department, teachers and students from government and private schools attended the Teachers’ Day program.

With various song and dance performances by students of Holy Cross School, St Mary’s School, Eastern School and GHSS Mon Town ‘D’, the program came to a conclusion with a vote of thanks by N Asangla Longchar, SDEO, Aboi followed by a light refreshment.
