Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0 launched in Mon

Mon: DC encourages youth to choose to be part of civilization and contribute to it

As part of the initiative of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0, was officially launched by Deputy Commissioner Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS on 24th September 2024, at Holy Cross School, Mon. The programme was organised by the District Tobacco Control Cell, Mon.

During the Launching programme, DC Mon expressed gratitude to the District Tobacco Control Cell for launching Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0, in the school. He highlighted that the main aim of the campaign is to target the youth, as the youth are the most vulnerable and emphasised that teachers are role model to the students, as they spend 8 to 9 hours per pay in a school since childhood.

The DC reminded the students that life is short and that the decisions they take today will determine where they will be 10-20 years from now. He encouraged them to choose to be a part of the civilization and contribute to the civilization. Be strong in your determination and stay away from social evil activities, he urged them.

Dr. Esther Chophy, District Nodal Officer, NTCP Mon Highlighted on the Objectives of the TFYC 2.0 while the Welcome address was delivered by Sabu James, Headmaster, Holy Cross School, Mon. Pledge of Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 2.0 was led by Dr. Lihngam Konyak, Jr. Dental Surgeon, DH Mon. The programme was chaired by E. Nyeamying Konyak, Consultant, NTCP Mon.
