Traffic suspended on NH-29 stretch near Mesulumi after major landslide

Extra Assistant Commissioner, Kiphire, Zavito, NCS, has informed that vehicular movement along a stretch of NH-29 (Kohima–Jessami Road) has been suspended following a major landslide and mudslide near Mesulumi village.

According to the advisory, the landslide occurred at Chainage 78+000 and 79+836 under Package-IV of the highway project. In view of the road clearance operations and to ensure public safety, all vehicular traffic along the affected stretch has been suspended with effect from August 5, 2026, until further orders.

As an alternative, both heavy and light motor vehicles have been advised to use the Pfutsero Town–Porba–Sakraba–Middle Khomi–Phek Village–Lanezho Road and vice versa.

For light motor vehicles only, the alternate route will be Pfutsero Town–Tsupfume–Thetsumi–Chizami Road and vice versa.

The district administration has urged commuters to strictly adhere to the traffic advisory and cooperate with the authorities until the affected section of NH-29 is cleared and declared safe for vehicular movement.
