Training on enhancing quality in Anganwadi centers underway in Zunheboto

A two-day training program aimed at enhancing education quality in Anganwadi centers while focusing on nutrition for holistic early childhood development was held at the CDPO office Asuto  Project Zunheboto. The session began on April 3 and will continue on April 4, with a total of 26 Anganwadi workers participating in the training. The program was designed to strengthen the capacity of Anganwadi workers in implementing effective early childhood care and education (ECCE) while also addressing key nutritional challenges faced by children in their formative years.

The resource persons for the training included poshan Bhi Padhan Bhi .Block Coordinator of Poshan, Hino N. Awomi, Supervisor of ICDS Project Asuto, Kheto K. Sumi, and CDPO of ICDS Asuto, Erenbeni Kikon. They provided insights on the significance of a structured weekly play-based calendar for ECCE, emphasizing interactive learning methods to enhance cognitive and social development in young children. Sessions also covered the management of malnutrition in children, including identifying and addressing cases of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), along with the role of micronutrient nutrition in overall child growth.

The training also highlighted the importance of personal hygiene and sanitation, both for children and caregivers, to prevent infections and ensure a healthier learning environment. State practices and policies on early childhood nutrition and development were discussed, with a focus on identifying and supporting vulnerable children in the community. Participants were trained on the usage of the Poshan Tracker App ,a digital tool designed to monitor the growth and nutritional status of children. Additionally, sessions on parental engagement and community mobilization emphasized the role of caregivers and local stakeholders in ensuring a supportive ecosystem for children’s early development.

Through interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and case studies, the training aimed to equip Anganwadi workers with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement effective early childhood education and nutrition programs at the grassroots level. Participants engaged in hands-on activities to better understand the application of the training in real world scenarios, ensuring that they can effectively implement these learnings in their respective centers.
