Amid continuous heavy rainfall and forecasts of further adverse weather, the district administrations of Tseminyu and Tuensang have issued public advisories urging residents to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures against landslides, flash floods, road blockages and other rain-related hazards.
Tseminyu DC urges vigilance, preparedness
Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch (NCS) has directed all line departments, Village Disaster Management Authorities (VDMAs), village councils and the general public to remain on alert as persistent rainfall continues to affect various parts of the district.
The administration has instructed authorities to prioritise the safety of life and property by identifying and monitoring landslide-prone, flood-prone and other vulnerable locations and evacuating residents wherever necessary.
Departments have also been directed to ensure the continued functioning of essential services, including healthcare, electricity, drinking water supply and communication systems, while keeping emergency response teams, machinery and equipment ready for immediate deployment.
The advisory further called for coordinated efforts to clear debris, landslides and blocked roads to restore connectivity and for weather updates and public safety information to be disseminated through all available communication channels.
The district administration has prohibited fishing, swimming and other activities in swollen rivers and streams until further notice. Village councils and VDMAs have been instructed to promptly report any disaster-related incidents, damage, casualties or displacement to the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC).
Residents have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, stay away from landslide-prone areas and swollen water bodies, strictly follow official instructions, and refrain from spreading unverified information or rumours.

In case of emergencies, the public may contact the District Emergency Operations Centre, Tseminyu, at 7827051943 or inform the nearest administrative officer or police station.
Tuensang administration warns of flooding and landslides
Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa has also issued a public advisory following reports of flooding, landslides, riverbank erosion and rising water levels in rivers and streams across Tuensang district.
Citing meteorological forecasts indicating continued heavy rainfall in the coming days, the administration warned that the district remains vulnerable to further flooding, landslides and erosion.
The public has been urged to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall and never attempt to cross flooded roads, bridges, culverts or fast-flowing streams.
Motorists have been advised to exercise extreme caution while travelling on hilly roads due to the risk of landslides, falling rocks, uprooted trees and slippery road conditions.
Residents living in low-lying or landslide-prone areas have been advised to remain alert and relocate to safer places if the situation warrants. Special care has also been urged for children, elderly persons and persons with disabilities during the ongoing adverse weather.
The administration appealed to the public not to circulate or rely on unverified information and to follow only official advisories issued by the district administration and other competent authorities.
Any incidents such as landslides, road blockages, flooding, house damage or persons in distress should be immediately reported to the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC), Tuensang, at 9612592810 or to the nearest administrative office or police station.
The district administration sought the cooperation of all citizens in adhering to the advisories to ensure public safety during the ongoing monsoon season.
