The Tsütuonuomia Khel Council (TKC), Kohima Village has today expressed its shock over the “suspicious and unnatural death committed on the 28th August 2024 evening to a minor girl child” at Vürie under Tsütuonuomia jurisdiction.

Extending its condolences to the family of the nine years old, the Council urged upon the law enforcing and investigation agencies “to let no stone unturned to traced the perpetrator/s taking into consideration the nature of death as there may have been a crime involved and award the highest degree of punishment to the culprit/s as per prevailing law of the land without any leniency.”

The KTC also stated that it “strongly objects to any criminal act and crime committed within our jurisdiction and warns the perpetrator/s with severest consequences once they are caught.”

It may be noted that the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Kohima had earlier informed of a death of a minor in Kohima town area and said that the police team conducted all the mandatory legal formalities – inquest and post-mortem.

The Kohima Police also stated that the place of occurrence was visited and examined in detail by officers of DEF Kohima and Forensic Team, Dimapur supervised by Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima. In this connection, a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated, it had said.

Further information is awaited.
