Tuensang community come together to celebrate Advent Christmas

Tuensang: Meaningful celebration lies in making peace rather than indulging in extravagant and wasteful festivities, Rev Achu Chang

The Tuensang District Administration organized Advent Christmas program for the Tuensang Town community on 3rd December 2023 at the Clock Tower, Tuensang bringing together residents from various denominations, DIPR stated in a report.

At the celebration, Superintendent of Police Tuensang Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, IPS expressed gratitude to the organizers for fostering unity through such programs in his brief address. He emphasized the importance of making Christmas a meaningful celebration and called on the gathered community to embrace hope for positive change.

On the occasion, the SP also announced the installation of CCTV cameras in different locations across Tuensang Town to enhance law and order.

Rev Achu Chang, Executive Secretary of Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen (CBLT), delivered a Christmas message encouraging the community to celebrate the occasion in a spirit of peace and forgiveness. He emphasized that a meaningful celebration lies in making peace rather than indulging in extravagant and wasteful festivities, true to Christian values.

The program included an invocation prayer by David, Pastor of NBC, special presentations from Baptist Thangyen School and Yimkhiung Baptist Church, and a welcome address by Thungchanbemo Tungoe, ADC Tuensang. Special greetings were conveyed by the Presidents of CKS, USLP, CWS, TTAWU, TTC&I, and TTBPU. The Christmas carol was presented by TTBL, with a special number from DBs Tuensang Hq.

Keneile-ü Suokhrie chaired the program, which saw attendance from the District Administration, church members, representatives from all wards, students, as well as members of the Hindu and Muslim communities from Tuensang.
