The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) began its 2nd phase of agitation on Tuesday where it indefinitely locked down the education offices including that of District Education Office, senior Sub District Education Officers (SDEO) and SDEO offices under its jurisdiction in Kiphire district as well as in Longkhim Town under Tuensang district.

The USSC took the 2nd phase of protest due to non-fulfilment of their three charter demands given to the concern Department:
- Immediate cancelation of teachers transferred with post without relievers and equal distribution of staffs.
- Detach teachers from VIPs, Directorates, DEO and SDEO offices.
- Redeployment of shortage of teachers under all mentioned schools.
USSC raises issue if teachers shortage in government schools under Sangtam jurisdiction
During the agitation on Tuesday, hundreds of students from Kiphire town led by USSC and area officials marched to DEO and senior SDEO offices Kiphire and submitted their letter to the Deputy Commissioner Kiphire which was addressed to the Principal Director School Education, Kohima.
Addressing the gathering at Senior SDEO Office, Sethrongba Y Sangtam, Vice President of USSC, said that the agitation will be indefinite until their demands are fulfilled by the department. He said owing to the random transfer of teachers with post, the students are suffering in school and asked how one can learn without proper teachers at station.
Sethrongba also said that the innocent students who are unable to raise their voice were silently suffering, putting their future at stack due to the failures of the department. He further urged that the department fulfil their charter of demands for the greater interest of the student community failing which the agitation will continue.
